Hypnosis
Hypnotherapy, what is it?
Hypnotherapy is a gentle and relaxing technique used to treat a number of situations in your life. Hypnosis is a state of consciousness where the cognitive powers are at rest. All of us, each day pass through the phenomena of hypnosis – when we go to sleep at night and when we wake up in the morning. In fact all of us have been hypnotised without even knowing it.
Can I be hypnotised?
Many people believe they cannot be hypnotised, but almost all people can be hypnotised. There is no foreseeable reason why you shouldn’t be suitable for hypnotherapy.
What can hypnotherapy be used for?
Hypnotherapy can be used successfully to help people with a wide range of situations, and the list below is just a small sample of the application of hypnotherapy:
Addictions: Gambling, Smoking, Drinking
Anxieties, Panic Attacks and Stress
Children’s Social and Learning Issues
Concentration and Memory Enhancement
Confidence, Esteem and Public Speaking
Depression, Grief, Fears and Phobias
Habits: Hair Pulling, Nail Biting, Thumb Sucking
Migraines, Sleep and Insomnia
Golf, Sports Performance
Public Speaking, Nerves, Stuttering
Sexual Performance, Male Dysfunction
Weight Loss and Eating Disorders
And there are so many more presenting problems that hypnotherapy can easily and readily address.
Will I tell my secrets?
People fear they will reveal secrets whilst under hypnosis, or “spill the beans” about their life, however this is not true. Clients recall and remember everything that happens under hypnosis. You can never reveal anything against your will during a hypnosis session.
Success Rate of Hypnotherapy
Since 1958, extensive research has been conducted on the efficiency and effectiveness of hypnosis: in the 1970’s-80’s several investigators provided clinical and experimental evidence about hypnosis effectiveness for: smoking cessation, weight loss, phobias, depression, substance abuse and anxiety, with impressive results:
Home study self-hypnosis: 2-5% success rate
Group hypnosis session: 2-5% success rate
Single individual session: 17-20% success rate
Three individual sessions: 45-50% success rate
Five plus individual sessions: 85-90% success rate
How many sessions will I need?
This is a difficult question to answer, and dependant on the type of treatment you may require. Every person has different requirements and different motivations to achieve their own desired outcome. Together we would develop a tailor made, personalised program, specially designed to achieve your desired outcome, simply, effectively and very relaxed, but as a general rule 4 to 5 visits will achieve the desired outcome.
